BAuA requirements since July 2026

No more poison at the entrance

The requirements of the BAuA (German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) are becoming ever stricter: since July 2026, the preventive use of poison bait has been severely restricted. Bait boxes in entrance and storage areas are standard in branches, but since July they no longer provide the required proof. Digital snap traps keep reporting, entirely without poison.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ: Digital pest management in retail

Why is digital pest control particularly worthwhile in retail?

In supermarkets and branches, a single visible incident can decide customer trust, reviews and, in the worst case, a complaint from the food safety authority. Conventional bait boxes in entrance or storage areas look unprofessional and do not provide complete documentation between visits. With JERRY CATCH as a digital snap trap and JERRY BAIT as a digital bait scale, you monitor the sales floor, storage, bake-off counter and receiving 24/7. Alerts only go to store management and QA when activity is actually detected, and the audit log grows without extra effort.

Is the hardware suitable for the sales floor, storage, bake-off counter and fresh food counter?

JERRY CATCH and JERRY BAIT are made of smooth, wipeable materials, blend discreetly into the back of the store and are compatible with standard commercial cleaning agents. For use in delivery and goods receiving, dry storage, bake-off counters, fruit and vegetables, fresh food counters, frozen food areas, behind shelves and in staff rooms. They are protected against water and dust. The battery level and radio connection of every station are monitored continuously: if one fails, you get an alert.

How does data transmission work in branches and stores?

Steel shelving, refrigerated displays and busy checkout areas interfere with conventional Wi-Fi sensors. traplinked uses LoRaWAN, a dedicated radio network per site with long range and good wall penetration. JERRY CATCH and JERRY BAIT transmit independently of your POS IT and the branch Wi-Fi, with no load on the merchandise management network and no interference with scanners, scales or label printers. Any number of branches can be rolled out centrally via one dashboard. When triggered, the traps send their alerts reliably and securely straight to your traplinked App.

How does traplinked support IFS Food, HACCP, DIN 10523 and food safety authority inspections?

IFS Food, HACCP and DIN 10523 ask for the history between visits, and the food safety authority asks for it without notice. Instead of a checklist with date and signature, there is a continuous log for every branch. The software automatically logs every alert, every battery change and every maintenance task: a time stamp per event, the response with the person responsible, a location plan of the stations. For the audit, you export the history for the desired period with one click and present it.

How does traplinked help with the ban on permanent baiting?

The requirements of the BAuA (German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) are becoming ever stricter: since July 2026, the preventive use of poison bait has been severely restricted. Bait boxes in entrance and storage areas are standard in branches, but since July they no longer provide the required proof. Digital snap traps keep reporting, entirely without poison. Supermarkets have to switch to poison-free monitoring (non-tox). With our digital snap traps, you can convert your business to legally compliant monitoring today. You avoid unnecessary poison, protect livestock from secondary poisoning and at the same time meet animal welfare requirements, because every catch is reported immediately and the trap can be emptied promptly.
